Master Naturalist
Acadiana Master Naturalists
The primary purpose of the Acadiana Master Naturalists (AMN) program is to educate Louisiana citizens about their flora and fauna, as well as other aspects of their environment, ecosystem, and natural history. Once certified, the Acadiana Master Naturalists are required to use their talents to educate others or assist programs that promote and protect Louisiana’s natural heritage. Topics include ecological regions of Louisiana, ecosystem management, geology and soils of Louisiana, plants, ornithology, entomology, herpetology, ichthyology, mammalogy, archeology, astronomy, and volunteer opportunities. The program is a great opportunity to learn about nature out in the field with like-minded people.
Applications are due on December 15st by 11:59pm for the following year’s program. Workshops take place in the spring of each year, from approximately January to June, and occur approximately every two weeks with the exception of Mardi Gras festivities and Easter.
